Short story: Roswell, New Mexico
Just recently I saw something in the newspaper regarding Roswell, New Mexico. It was either regarding an article in the paper or a TV advertisement for the latest new film opening in theatres, or perhaps a new series.
The subject took me back to the late 1960’s when Ray (the father of my three children) had to make a business trip to Roswell for the company he was then employed by, Southern Wine and Spirits, which distributed Calvert products. His focus there would be the Calvert line.
It was a frightening situation for the family because of the recent UFO sighting that continues to be a mystery and haunts America to this day.
It was to be such a traumatic experience due to the UFO sighting (and he wanted to make sure the family was amply protected should something happen to him) that he bought a very expensive flight insurance policy.
He telephoned us nightly to check on us, and to let us know that he was okay.
When he returned safely a week or so later, leaving the happenings of the UFO and Roswell behind, it was a very jubilant time for the Escovedo family.
