Seniors to walk 1 mile with CareMore
DOWNEY – More than a hundred seniors will participate in a walk Oct. 3 sponsored by CareMore to promote a campaign of better preventive health, particularly for those at risk of diabetes.
The 1-mile walk will take place at 8 a.m. at Downey High School.
CareMore, a local senior health provider and wellness advocate, has launched a national initiative to improve better fitness for older adults as a preventive campaign to reduce the effects of diabetes among older adults. CareMore’s national campaign of better fitness to address diabetes prevention began in Richmond, Virginia and will conclude in Los Angeles, California in about a month.
Seniors will begin their newfound fitness regimen by walking with CareMore staff, local officials and community advocates to mark the official birthday of Medicare.
