Sawdust Art Festival in its final weekend

LAGUNA BEACH - The 43rd annual Sawdust Art Festival is coming to a close this weekend, completing its final day of the 2009 summer show on Sunday.Highlights of the final weekend events, activities and entertainment include: Blood Drive with Saddleback Memorial Medical Center (today, noon - 6 p.m.): Donors must be in good health, at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent), weight at least 110 pounds, have a valid photo ID, and have had no tattoos within the last 12 months. The donated blood will benefit patients at Saddleback Memorial Medical Centers. To make an appointment, call Natalie Connor at (949) 497-0521. "Make a Bead Bracelet" with Catherine Reade (today, 7-9 p.m.): Learn the craft of knotting a bead bracelet with Sawdust jeweler Catherine Read in the Sawdust Studio. Ages 10+, $5 fee. Juke Box Scandal (today, 5:30-9:45 p.m.): Check out the rock group Juke Box Scandal on the Main Entertainment Deck. "The Language of Landscape Painting" with Amy Jackson (Saturday, 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.): Create an acrylic landscape painting with Sawdust painter Amy Jackson in the Sawdust Studio. Ages 6+, $5 fee. Sasha Evans - blues, jazz and a cappella (Saturday, noon - 4:30 p.m.): Check out new and exciting blues, jazz and a cappella singer-songwriter Sasha Evans with her talented band on the Main Entertainment Deck. The Missiles of October (Saturday, 5:30-9:45 p.m.): Favorite local band, the Missiles of October, will close out the last "Dance Night Saturday Night" on the Main Entertainment Deck. World Anthem (Sunday, 5:30-9:45 p.m.): Energetic reggae band World Anthem will groove on the Main Entertainment Deck. Ceramic Center (daily, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.): Come and try your hand at the potter's wheel. Sawdust staff will assist, but you are the true creator of your very own clay pot. Free to take home, $15 to fire and ship to your home. The Sawdust Art Festival is located at 935 Laguna Canyon Rd. in Laguna Beach. Admission is $7.50 for adults, $6 for seniors, and $3 for children 6-12. Children under 5 are free.
