Roybal-Allard supports Olympic bid
DOWNEY – Downey Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard signed a bipartisan congressional letter supporting bringing the 2024 Olympics to Los Angeles. “Having hosted two Summer Olympic Games in 1932 and 1984, as well as the 1991 Olympic Sports Festival, Los Angeles is uniquely qualified to host the Games of the 33rd Olympiad,” Roybal-Allard said.
“Our city and region have proven their ability to host successful and memorable Olympic Games, and I am proud to support the city’s bid to host our third Summer Olympics.
“Los Angeles represents America’s strongest bid to host the 2024 Games, and to bring the Summer Olympics back to the U.S. for the first time in 28 years.
“Past L.A. Olympics have hosted gold medal-winning performances from Mary Lou Retton, Carl Lewis, Michael Jordan and Babe Didrikson Zaharias. I look forward to Los Angeles hosting an equally impressive collection of talent at the 2024 Games.”
