Richard Johnson mourned
DOWNEY – Longtime Downey resident Richard A. Johnson died Aug. 1 in Downey.
A memorial service was held Aug. 5 at Miller Mies Mortuary. Interment was at Riverside National Cemetery.
Richard was born in Galesbury, Ill., on Dec. 1, 1929, the oldest of three children. He had two brothers: Rodney, deceased a few years ago, and Jimmy, the youngest who lives in Hemet.
Richard worked for many years as a truck driver. When the company closed, he went on to work as an apartment manager and supermarket manager. He later retired to travel the work.
His bones began to deteriorate due to arthritis about 10 years ago. His health significantly declined the last three months, which he spent at an assisted living facility.
He lived in Downey for 25 years.
