Retired sheriff's deputy missing in Downey
A 69-year-old retired sheriff's deputy with a history of schizophrenia is missing after he was released from a Downey hospital last week, relatives of the missing man said today.Employees of Frantone's Pizza & Spaghetti Villa found Larry Everett Starks homeless and unable to walk last Thursday, family members said. Paramedics transported him to Kaiser Permanente hospital in Downey. He was released the next day and has not been seen since, relatives said. Starks, a retired San Diego Sheriff's deputy, reportedly told his hospital social worker that he frequents the Norwalk Town Square and other locations in Downey, Montebello, Whittier and surrounding cities. He also mentioned that he would like to find his children and family but had lost their contact information, according to relatives. Starks is African-American, 6 feet 2 inches tall and weights about 225 pounds. He has a full salt and pepper-colored beard and hair that is balding at the top.
