Rescued animals brought to Downey

AGUA DULCE - More than 300 animals were seized from an unlicensed kennel rescue facility in the unincorporated community of Agua Dulce last week.Investigators from the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control obtained a search warrant for the home on Aug. 19 after the resident living on the property refused investigators access to the home, authorities said. Nearly 100 dogs and 200 cats were found on the property living in unsanitary conditions and with lack of adequate care, officials said. Many of the animals were found to be emaciated and/or sick, and all of the animals were confiscated. The animals were transported to Los Angeles County animal shelters for veterinary treatment. Some of the animals are available for adoption or placement into a foster home. More information is available at county animal shelters, including the shelter in Downey at 11258 S. Garfield Ave.
