DOWNEY – Downey residents spend on average $2,588 per month on household bills, nearly 30% more than the national average, according to a report released this week.

Doxo analyzed data from more than 4,000 cities across the U.S. to compile its report. 

The analysis by Doxo revealed that Downey households pay $2,588 per month for the 10 most common bills. 

Downey expenses are 29.2% higher than the national average but 2.3% lower than the state average of $2,649.

Downey was listed as No. 235 in a list of the most expensive California cities for household expenses. 

Downey households spend 44% of their income on household bills, according to the report.

The report also revealed that the average monthly car payment in Downey is $493 and auto insurance runs at $189 per month on average.
