Recently-found home videos to be screened

DOWNEY - Home videos recently discovered by three former Downey residents will be screened by the Downey Historical Society on Jan. 28 at the Barbara J. Riley Community and Senior Center. The videos, taken by James Smith, Carrol and Ann Taylor, and Marie Green, had apparently been abandoned by the original families that made them and have shown up at garage sales, swap meets and other places. The videos depict Downey from the mid 1950s to the late 1970s. Residents are invited to the screening, which begins at 7:30 p.m. Anyone who may have additional information on the videos or the residents who taped the films are also invited. For more information, call the historical society at (562) 862-2777.
