Reading events at the library

DOWNEY – Chinese New Year and the Year of the Sheep will be celebrated at the Downey City Library with preschool and bilingual storytimes this Tuesday and Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Library staff will be reading stories about China, dragons, lion dancers, and lanterns.

Kids are encouraged to wear red “for good luck and happiness.”

The program is intended for kids ages 3-5 and their caregivers. No groups are allowed.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, Feb. 19, the library is hosting Family Story Night from 6:30 to 7 p.m.

The volunteer-led program is for kids ages 3-7 and family members, and gives parents an opportunity to read to their children.
