Raymond Jantz
Raymond Jantz was born on November 21, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio to Tabea and Adolph Jantz. When Ray was 10 years old, the family moved to the Los Angeles area where he attended public schools and graduated from Fremont High School. He went on to graduate from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1956.
In 1959, Ray began a 38-year career with the City of Los Angeles and was Chief Administrative Analyst for the Department of City Planning when he retired in 1998. Ray was an outgoing, intelligent, compassionate man who loved his family and loved God. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Downey for over 50 years. Golf, gardening, cars, corny jokes and especially USC football were some of the things he enjoyed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mae Jantz of Downey, his son, Jeff (Terry) Jantz of Chino Hills, his daughter, Susan (Steve) Swartout of Diamond Bar, his grandchildren, Jason (Maegen) Jantz of Dana Point, Carissa Jantz of La Jolla, Natalie Swartout and Jillian Swartout, both of Diamond Bar, his great granddaughter, Ava Dixon of La Jolla and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his brother, Herb Jantz of El Cajon and is predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Pitt.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Downey on Saturday, December 8 at 10:30am.
