Randy's Donuts opening donut shop in Downey

DOWNEY – Randy’s Donuts, the iconic doughnut shop known for its oversized rooftop donut signage, has submitted plans to open a location in Downey. 

The donut shop will be located on Firestone Boulevard at Marbel Avenue, on a lot formerly occupied by a used car dealership. 

The restaurant’s opening is still in its preliminary stages. A city official wasn’t available to comment Tuesday. 

The original Randy’s Donuts opened in 1953 in Inglewood, not far from LAX. An expansion was announced earlier this year, with a shop expected to open in Hollywood in late 2018.
