DOWNEY — A mobile protest against the Senate’s plan to vote on the confirmation of President Trump’s pick for the Supreme Court is scheduled for this Saturday in Downey.

Organizers will gather outside Downey City Hall at 12 p.m. to decorate cars and share a few words. The caravan will begin at 1 p.m. and is scheduled to conclude an hour later at the Downey Courthouse.

Participants are encouraged to decorate their vehicles with their favorite Ruth Bader Ginsburg quote.

Local residents Jill Dolan and Carlos Aranibar are organizing the caravan.

Ginsburg died Sept. 18, sparking a battle over her replacement.

Republican Senate leaders are pushing to vote on her replacement before the election while Democrats insist a vote should be delayed until after the inauguration of the next president.
