Promenade construction
Dear Editor: It will be a year in May since my family and I became residents in the beautiful city of Downey. Living in such a great city has exceedingly helped us with commute to work and errands since this area is in the heart of many great malls and restaurants.
However, there is one thing that has become very difficult to adjust into our daily life, and that is the construction work down Imperial Hwy. and Bellflower Blvd.
Let me start off by saying that I have nothing against construction workers or renovating our beautiful city. There is a problem, however, when as a resident you have to spend your time in traffic or have to take a detour to get to your destination. I understand that our great city is building a new movie theater along with a promenade but the traffic that street work causes gives a bigger headache.
I am not saying that we should stop the construction or road work but what I am proposing is that the construction workers begin their work on slow hours instead of the busy hours like 8 a.m., 12 p.m., and 5 p.m. to avoid traffic jams. Those slow hours can be around 12 a.m. to 5 a.m. which can have less traffic than those I mentioned before.
With that being said I hope this is something that is not only something I have noticed.
