Police Report: 1/20/21

On Jan. 12 at approximately 11 am, officers responded to the 7300 block of Florence Ave. regarding a man down.  The victim sustained massive head injuries and was transported to St. Francis Medical Center by DFD. The male adult suspect stated he was in an argument with the victim and struck him numerous times. The suspect was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.

On Jan. 14 at approximately 8:45 am, officers responded to the 8300 block of Puritan Ave. regarding a suicide. Officers discovered an adult male victim with a single self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, but with signs of life.  Downey Fire Department responded and transported the male to the hospital where he died. Detectives responded to assist with the investigation. A handgun was recovered at the scene.

Detectives are investigating a homicide that occurred on Jan. 16 at about 1 am in the 12800 block of Lakewood Blvd. The adult male suspect and adult male victim were in an argument. During the altercation, the victim sustained multiple stab wounds to the body. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene, and the suspect was transported to the hospital for his injuries. Detectives responded to the scene to handle the investigation. The suspect was arrested and booked for murder.

Detectives are investigating an armed robbery that occurred on Jan. 17 at about 11 pm in the 11400 block of Old River School Road (Zip In Liquor). Two adult male suspects entered the store. One was armed with a handgun and demanded cash from the cashier. The suspects left with approximately $500 cash and 3 bottles of tequila. The suspects were last seen running southbound on Old River School Road.
