Police release image of robbery suspect

DOWNEY — Police are searching for a woman who attempted to rob a woman at the Downey Landing shopping center Tuesday.

The attempted robbery occurred at about 2:40 pm as the shopper was returning to her vehicle.

As the woman approached her car, a dark-colored, four-door sedan pulled up behind her. An African American woman wearing a white tank top exited the vehicle and began assaulting the victim in an effort to steal her property, police said.

The suspect eventually retreated to the vehicle which was driven by another person. The attacker did not obtain any of the victim’s property.
