Police officers set for retirement

DOWNEY – The Downey Police Department hosted a small celebration recently for the upcoming retirements of Sgt. Ed Kelly and Sgt. Salazar.

Both men attended Carpenter Elementary, South Middle School (now Sussman), and graduated from Downey High School in 1989. They both also worked for the City of Downey as recreation leaders before joining the Downey Police Department, where they remained the past 26 years.

“Congratulations for all your hard work, dedication, and mentoring both have provided,” the police department wrote on Instagram. “We look forward to your well deserved retirements.”
