Police officer charged with hit and run

TORRANCE - A Manhattan Beach police officer accused of causing a traffic collision and failing to stop at the scene pleaded not guilty Wednesday at Torrance Superior Court.Richard William Hatten II, 35, allegedly did not stop at a traffic collision he caused in Manhattan Beach on Jan. 31, 2010, prosecutors said. The driver of the other two vehicles involved sustained minor injuries. Hatten could receive one year in county jail if convicted.
