Police investigating fatal fire in Downey as homicide

DOWNEY — A fatal fire that occurred at a Downey smoke shop last year is now being investigated as a homicide, Downey authorities said today.

The fire was reported Oct. 27 at 7:34 pm at Savage Smoke Shop, located at 12148 Paramount Blvd.

Downey firefighters extinguished the flames and discovered a man dead inside the business.

In a press release Monday, authorities said the man’s death is being investigated as a homicide.
