November 13, 1929 - May 28, 2016

Patricia Montano passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at the age of 86 from heart complications. She is survived by her children Gregory, Suzanne, John, Melinda, Lisa, 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, brother Richard Wader and his family.

Patricia was born on November 13, 1929 in Denver, Colorado to Herbert and Dorothy Wader and was raised in California. She graduated in 1948 from Immaculate Conception Academy in San Francisco, CA. She married John Montano and in 1951 they moved to Downey where they raised five children.

As a longtime resident of Downey, Patricia was active in her community and her church, Our Lady of Perpetual Help. She volunteered in the League of Women Voters, the Women’s Guild at OLPH and enjoyed monthly lunch meetings with the Red Hats and Newcomers. She loved meeting people and was quick to make a friend.

Her favorite pastimes were watching tennis and rooting for her favorite LA sports teams, doing her daily scrambled words in the LA Times, going to the movies and live theater and watching her favorite game shows. Sorry, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, you’ll have one less fan.

We’ll miss your lively sense of humor, quick wit and candor. We love and miss you.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Downey on July 29th at 10:30am with a lunch to follow at the Rio Hondo Country Club.
