Parks offering kids program

DOWNEY – Many of Downey’s parks will be offering free outdoor activities for children during winter break. The “Holiday Haven” program is offered from 12-5 p.m. on weekdays starting Dec. 22 and ending Jan. 2. Activities include arts and crafts, tag, lunch with the leaders (bring your own lunch) and more.

The program is available at Apollo, Brookshire, Dennis the Menace, Furman, Golden and Rio San Gabriel parks. It is also available at Brookshire Park from 12:30-4:30 p.m.

There is no charge for the drop-in program but registration is required. Sign-ups can be completed at participating parks starting Dec. 22 at noon.
