Park programs during spring break

DOWNEY - Spring break begins Monday, and the city of Downey is offering a free program to help keep children occupied.Between April 13-17, "Spring Break Fun at the Parks" will be offered at Apollo, Dennis the Menace, Furman, Golden and Rio San Gabriel parks from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with activities scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The program will also be offered at Crawford and Brookshire parks from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Children ages 6-12 can enjoy a daily program that includes lunch with the leader (bring your own lunch), arts and crafts, and outdoor activities. Children are free to come and go at any time, but city officials encourage them to stay at the park sites. Registration is required and can be completed at the parks.
