Paramount demolition company honored as Small Business of the Year
PARAMOUNT -- Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Paramount) honored Interior Removal Specialist, Inc. (IRS) as the 2016 Small Business of the Year for the 63rd Assembly District.
Based in South Gate, IRS is one of Southern California’s leading demolition companies best known for its pioneering work on recycling of toxic materials found in demolition jobs. IRS won CalRecycle’s Waste Reduction Awards Program (WRAP) for 11 consecutive years from 2001 to 2011.
IRS has a long history of philanthropy, including donating materials from job sites to build the Good Shepherd shelter for homeless women and children in Los Angeles, as well as schools and churches throughout the region. The company has also graciously allows the South Gate Police Department and other law enforcement agencies free use of its warehouse for training exercises.
“Companies like Interior Removal Specialist show businesses can be financially successful while also giving back to the communities where they operate,” Rendon said. “By donating recovered materials such as furniture and other useful items, IRS is benefitting local organizations while at the same time diverting materials from landfills. That’s great for local non-profits and the environment.”
Rendon represents the 63rd Assembly District, which includes the cities and communities of Bell, Cudahy, Hawaiian Gardens, Lakewood, North Long Beach, Lynwood, Maywood, Paramount, and South Gate.
