Oral history on African American history
DOWNEY – Expert storyteller Michael McCarty will be at the Downey City Library this Wednesday telling folk tales, historical and personal stories revealing the struggles, joys and beauty of African and African American history. The free event begins at 6 p.m.
“Telling and listening to stories is a huge part of what makes our social lives tick,” the library said in a statement. “Think about it, we spend most of our time engaged in story sharing when we interact with other people, and we form bonds with people who tell stories we like.”
