Friday, July 3
At 8 p.m., officers responded to the 12600 block of Ibbetson regarding a critical missing adult. The 32- year-old victim left a suicide note at his former address in West Lake Village. The victim's estranged wife called LAPD from her residence in Missouri and was instructed to make a report with the law enforcement agency where the victim currently resides. Detectives are investigating.
Saturday, July 4
At 1:55 a.m., officers responded to La Barca Restaurant (11010 Paramount Blvd) due to two females engaged in a fist fight. Once outside the restaurant, the victim (who was attempting to break up the fight) was struck on the head with an unknown object. He (victim) sustained a ½” laceration to the upper right side of his forehead and was transported to PIH for medical treatment.
At 5:55 a.m., officers responded to a drowning on the 7900 block of 4th St. The intoxicated victim, a 39-year-old female resident of Los Angeles, was found unconscious in the pool. The owner of the residence performed CPR and the victim regained consciousness. DFD responded and transported her to PIH, where she is expected to make a full recovery.
At 9:10 a.m., while the residents were away on vacation (7900 block of Farm St), a neighbor observed two subjects inside the residence and notified the police. Upon arrival, one suspect was detained to the front of the residence. Two Downey K9 units were used to search the residence and surrounding properties but were unable to locate any additional suspects. Detectives are investigating.
At 5:15 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Smallwood and 8th St regarding four subjects inside a mini-van smoking marijuana and using nitrous oxide. As officers contacted the occupants, the driver ran. The passengers were detained at the scene. Ultimately, the driver was captured and arrested. A small amount of marijuana and two nitrous oxide tanks were seized.
At 8:40 p.m., a female Downey resident was sitting in a chair on her front lawn (13100 block of Verdura Ave) when she was struck in the thigh by a falling bullet causing a bruise.
Sunday, July 5
At 4 a.m., officers responded to a vehicle fire in the north parking lot of Golden Park (8840 Golden Ave). Witnesses stated they saw two unknown subjects park the car. When they (witnesses) returned approximately 15 minutes later, the vehicle was engulfed in flames. Pico Rivera Sheriff's contacted the registered owner and discovered it was an unreported stolen vehicle. DFD responded and extinguished the fire.
On July 4, officers issued 20 citations for illegal fireworks.
