Off-duty LAPD officer involved in Downey shooting

DOWNEY — An off-duty LAPD officer was involved in a shooting in Downey early Wednesday morning.

Downey Police were dispatched to the 10000 block of Arrington Avenue at approximately 4:40 am after receiving reports of a man wearing a mask in a residential driveway.

An off-duty LAPD officer “attempted to contact the subject” and a shooting occurred, Downey Police said. The person fled in a vehicle and was not captured.

It’s unclear if the person was hit by gunfire. The police officer was not injured.
