Nominations sought for Woman of the Year

DOWNEY - Assemblymember Cristina Garcia is accepting nominations for "Woman of the Year" in the 58th Assembly District.March has been designated as women's History Month and each year California State Legislature encourages legislators to honor deserving women for service in their community. This year, Garcia will honor as "Woman of the Year" one woman from each of the nine cities she represents in the state legislature. "If you know of inspiring, women of distinction and service in your community, I want to know about them, so please submit your nominees by Friday, March 1," Garcia said. Nominations are open to all women who live, work or attend school in the 58th Assembly District, which includes Downey, Artesia, Bellflower, Bell Gardens, Cerritos, Commerce, Norwalk, Pico Rivera and Montebello. Award winners will be honored at a luncheon on March 25. Nomination forms are available at City Hall offices and online at asmdc.org/members/a58.
