Nominations open for hall of fame

DOWNEY - Downey High School is now accepting nominations for its Hall of Fame in the areas of arts, athletics, business, community/government, education and professional.The Hall of Fame was formed in 1999 and currently has 62 members. Distinguished alumni include Dr. Robert Ballard, discoverer of the Titanic; entertainers Karen and Richard Carpenter; international figure skaters JoJo Starbuck and Ken Shelley; musician George Pajon, Jr. of the Black Eyed Peas; and James Hetfield, lead singer of Metallica.
