Nancy Jones was fitness instructor
DOWNEY – Nancy Jones, a longtime fitness instructor for Downey Adult School, died May 5 after suffering a stroke. She was 78. She received her BA from Cal State Long Beach in physical education. She began teaching a fitness class at Downey Adult School on Sept. 13, 1971 and was still teaching at the time of her death.
As a fitness instructor, she often expanded her routine to train students in 5Ks, half marathons, mini triathlons and bike riding. She was a frequent participant in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, participating as team Jones Jammin’ Joggers.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 56 years, Al Jones; two daughters, Cathy Jones of Seattle and Kimberly (Steve) Triloi of Rancho Cucamonga; and four grandchildren, Brandon (Areanna) Wibb, Andrew, Ben and Lauren Trioli.
A celebration of life will be held May 29 at 11 a.m. at EvFree Church of Fuller.
