More bad press for Ricardo Lara
The former state senator and current California insurance commissioner is under a lot of scrutiny for his questionable ethics.
The latest question mark comes from the website Workers Comp Executive, which reports that, between 2013-15, Lara directed hundreds of thousands of dollars to a charity he ran. The bulk of the money was spent on “conferences, conventions and meetings.”
“It is a story not only about the behests but, more importantly, about what happened to the money,” the website reported. “Where it went, and how little of it went to charity, particularly in 2014, tells the real story of intent.”
Lara has been scrutinized for his ethical decisions since being elected to insurance commissioner last year.
