Moode, Knabe to call parade again

DOWNEY - Marsha Moode, executive producer of the Downey Civic Light Opera, and county supervisor Don Knabe will again host the Downey Holiday Lane Parade this Sunday.It will be the 23rd time Moode has sat behind the broadcaster's booth to call the parade. Moode has been named "A Woman Making History in the Southland" by the League of Women Voters, "A Woman of Distinction" by Soroptimist International of Downey and "Volunteer of the Year" by the Downey Chamber of Commerce. She has hosted two 90-minute programs for Time Warner Cable, "The Campaign Series" and "Good Company," and has been a member of the Holiday Lane Committee for 23 years. Knabe was first elected to the county Board of Supervisors in 1996 and overwhelmingly re-elected in 2000, 2004 and 2008. He represents the 4th District (including Downey) with more than 2 million residents. Knabe served on the President's Homeland Security Advisory Board, on the board of directors of the Metropolitan Transportation Association (MTA), and has twice served as mayor of Cerritos. This year will mark his 19th year co-hosting the Holiday Lane Parade. The parade begins Sunday at 1:30 p.m. along Downey Avenue and finishes at the Civic Center.
