Money down the drain

Dear Editor:On Sept. 24, our Senate approved an aid package of $1.5 billion annually for the next five years for Pakistan. The U.S. wants a bigger embassy with 1,000 Marines to protect it. Nearly two-thirds of Pakistan residents view the U.S. as an enemy; only 9 percent see the U.S. as a partner. Our Senate should be trying to balance our budget instead of getting us $9 billion more in the red. This is just more money down the drain. - Mike Sandoval, Downey
