Middle school art at the Stay Gallery

Stay Gallery recently hosted an exhibit of middle school art, with more than 120 pieces on display from Doty, Griffiths, Stauffer and Sussman middle schools. The projects were the creative reinterpretation of the Downey Unified School District seal.

The Stay Gallery has promoted a strong collaboration with the school district, staging exhibitions in the past with our elementary and high school students. This first middle school show was “a great success” and the gallery is interested in developing after school arts programming in the future.

“Eunhae Seo, Ed Plant, Stephen Desalernos, and Leslie Chavez, the four middle school art teachers, are grateful to the Stay Gallery and their Stay Young Initiative for helping spread the word about the importance of Arts education in the lives of Downey’s young people,” the teacher said.
