Mickie Dufrene passes away at 78
DOWNEY - Mickie Hinman Dufrene, a resident of Downey for 50 years, passed away May 20. She was 78.She was born in Westlake, Louisiana, and was employed for 28 years at Bethlehem Steel. She also worked 10 years at the Superior Court Law Library. Dufrene was past president of the Together for Hope chapter of the City of Hope, and belonged to the OLPH Catholic Women's Guild. She also volunteered at Aquarium of the Pacific, was a member of the International Scuba Club, and supported the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Gene Autry Museum. Dufrene was also a Eucharistic minister at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Downey. She is survived by two daughters, Beth (Bill) Damianakes and Leah (Steve) Maldonado; four grandchildren, Nicole (Tim) Woolery, Adriane (Travis) Beglem, Nathan (Alayna) Maldonado and Andrew Damianakes; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will take place at OLPH Church with Rev. Mark Warnstedt officiating. Miller-Mies Mortuary is handling the services.
