Michael Thomas Andrade

Michael Thomas Andrade passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at the age of 55.

Michael was born on May 15, 1967, in Lynwood, California, to Walter Andrade, Sr., and Andrea Andrade. He grew up in Downey, attending Spencer V. Williams Elementary School, West Middle School and Warren High School (Class of 1985). During this time, he learned to play the drums and developed a love for performing music and song writing. After high school, he moved to Hollywood to pursue his musical aspirations. He performed in the bands Tommyrot, as the drummer, and Ruby Rockets, as the lead singer, in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Both bands had a good following and performed at popular clubs in Hollywood, including Gazzari’s, Troubadour and The Roxy Theatre. With his extensive musical knowledge, Michael also worked for Tower Records and as a deejay on the Sunset Strip.

Michael went on to produce music for several well-known artists and recorded music of his own, under the name Meeks, for Cleopatra Records. Some of his music has been featured in movies and television.

In most recent years, Michael painted in his spare time. He was a very talented artist and loved to share his artwork with family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Michael is survived by his mother, Andrea Andrade, brother, Walter Andrade, Jr., sister, Gina (Andrade) Foley, brother-in-law, William Foley, sister-in-law, Julie Hayes, nephews, Christopher Andrade and Nicholas Andrade, and many cousins. He is predeceased by his father, Walter Andrade, Sr., and brother, Anthony Andrade.
