Metro considering bus-only lane on Florence Avenue

DOWNEY – Metro is considering a plan to create a bus-only lane along Florence Avenue in Downey.

The 4-mile lane would run from Lesterford Avenue westbound to Eastern Avenue in Bell Gardens.

The news site Urbanize L.A. was first to report the proposed lane.

Metro is also considering bus-only lanes along three other L.A. County corridors: Van Nuys Boulevard in the San Fernando Valley; Olympic Boulevard in Central Los Angeles; and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in South Los Angeles.

Last week, Metro’s board was scheduled to consider implementing the bus-only lanes on a pilot basis, but the discussion was postponed to an unknown date.

City officials did not respond to an opportunity to comment.
