Merlene Rosanna Hill

October 1, 1935 - August 5th, 2023

Merlene Rosanna Hill, 87, passed away at her Downey home on August 5th, 2023, having resided in Downey for 52 years. She was born in Los Angeles, CA, on October 1, 1935 to Merle and Florence Aldridge Hill. Merlene attended schools in Bell Gardens, California. She received her AA degree from Compton Jr College and her BA degree from Greenville (IL) College. She was awarded her MA degree from Long Beach State College. She taught in the Montebello Unified School Disrict for 36 years and served during summer vacations and holidays as a guide at Hearst Castle.

Merlene was preceded in death by her parents and by two brothers, Paul R.Hill, and Gerald L. Hill, a nephew, Paul Wesley Hill, and a niece, Sharon E, Hill Hearn. Her brother, David C. Hill (Margaret) survives as do two nephews, Kevin Edwards and Brandon Hill, one niece, Amanda Tippey and eight grand nieces and nephews.

Services were held on August 17th, 2023 at Rose Hills Mortuary in the Memorial Chapel with Rev Kevin Boyce officiating. Interment was at Rose Hills.
