Members of Downey's Greek community host fundraiser for Claudia Frometa
DOWNEY — Members of Downey’s Greek-American community attended a fundraising/meet and greet event for Claudia Frometa at a private residence in Downey on Sunday.
Frometa is running to replace Downey council member and former mayor Fernando Vasquez in District 4 (northeast Downey) after he is termed out this November.
More than 100 people from the local Downey community came out to meet Frometa. They all had the opportunity to ask her questions, learn more about her platforms and her candidacy while sharing and discussing mutual important local issues that many residents care deeply about.
Guests enjoyed Greek music, refreshments and traditional Greek food like roasted lamb and marinated pork kontosouvli.
“The successful event allowed the perfect opportunity for the community to come together, mobilize and really get more informed, while identifying the right candidate to represent them in city hall this November,” organizers said. “Issues that are very important to Claudia, also resonated with the attendees creating a strong wave of support. Claudia was able to convey that she is truly vested in Downey and demonstrated that she will be a strong leader who has an excellent pulse on this community.”
Among the guests in attendance were Mayor Pro Tem Rick Rodriguez and Councilman Alex Saab, who both have endorsed Frometa for city council, along with numerous other business owners, local community leaders and educators.
