Man shot to death in South Gate

SOUTH GATE — A man was shot to death in South Gate, authorities said Sunday.

The shooting occurred at 11:30 p.m. Saturday in the 8900 block of McNerney Avenue, near Firestone Boulevard and west of the Long Beach (710) Freeway, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Officers from the South Gate Police Department responding to the scene located a man on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

No other immediate information was available.
