Man arrested for grabbing teen faces new charges
DOWNEY -- A 28-year-old man arrested for grabbing a teenage girl walking home from school last week is facing additional charges.
Sala Robert Pires allegedly grabbed the backside of a 14-year-old girl as she walked home May 9. Pires ran away but was arrested a short time later at a nearby home.
Prosecutors now say Pires was behind a similar attack April 9, when he approached a woman walking on a sidewalk, grabbed her buttocks, and then ran away.
Pires was charged with one misdemeanor count each of sexual battery and child molesting. He was scheduled to be arraigned Friday.
If convicted, Pires faces up to 18 months in jail.
