Lila Mae Jackson mourned
Lila Mae Jackson was born Sept. 10, 1929 in Dunbar, Nebraska to John and Jennie Jackson. Lila Mae died Dec. 24 in Downey.
Her son, David, was born Jan. 6, 1959 in San Antonio, Texas. Daughter Saundra was born June 24, 1964 in Phoenix.
The family moved to Downey in 1966, where they made their permanent home. Lila Mae became very active in the Downey United Methodist Church.
Lila Mae was very supportive with her husband Harry, now deceased, and her two children, David and Saundra. She was involved with the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts, the PTA, school activities and Jobs Daughters.
Lila Mae was a volunteer at the Downey Community Hospital where she was in charge of the “Candy Stripers”. She was a member of the Downey Shrinettes, where she served one term as president, the Downey Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile.
Lila Mae is survived by her son, David Wehmeyer, and daughter-in-law Diane, living in Downey; her daughter Saundra Rojo, and son-in-law Thaddius living in La Mirada; her six grand children, Brian, Zachary, Austin, Trenton, Sabrina, and Scott, and her six great grandchildren, Gabrian, Nathan, Alyssa, Kaeden, Taylor, and Seth; niece Shirley living in San Antonio; and her nephew Billy Wehmeyer, also living in San Antonio.
