Ligaya Miller
May 8, 1950 - January 4, 2017
Ligaya (Linda) Miller, of Downey, CA passed away on January 4, 2017 while on vacation in Oahu, HI. She was 66. She was born on May 8, 1950 and lived in Tayug, Pangasinan, Philippines. While working at Subic Bay Naval Base, she met her husband, George, where he worked on a hospital ship during the Vietnam War. They married in March 1970 and a few months later, she relocated to Downey to be with her husband and start a family.
Ligaya worked as a sales associate at Mervyns Department Store in Stonewood Center Mall for 27 years until they closed their doors in 2008. She also served as a long-time member and two-time board member of the Tayug Association of Southern California (TASC).
Everyone that knew her would agree that Ligaya was the sweetest, caring, nonjudgmental, loving person you would ever meet. She had a heart of gold and always had a smile on her face. Her family loved her and she loved her family with everything she had. She especially loved watching her grandson play baseball and granddaughter dance hula. She will be missed by all.
Ligaya is survived by her husband of 46 years, George; children, Rick (Sandra) and Michele (Michael); grandchildren, Matthew and Samantha; and sisters, Lorna and Josephine (Elmo).
A Celebration of Life will be held at Saint Raymond Catholic Church at 10 am on Saturday, February 11th.
