DOWNEY — High school students are invited to attend a free workshop Saturday on U.S. service academies, which offer free university tuition in exchange for a commitment to become a military officer.

The workshop is presented by Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard and begins at 9 am at the Downey City Library.

At the workshop, academy representatives and current students will be available to answer questions about eligibility requirements, cadet life, academics, athletics, and career opportunities after graduation.

Attendees will learn about each of our nation’s five service academies and how to obtain a Congressional nomination.
