Letters to the Editor: City Council vacancy
Dear Editor:
I live in district 2 and I’ve been a citizen of Downey since 1969. I’ve become disgusted about what’s going on with the current city council.
This is the first time since moving here I’m embarrassed by the city council and the council members that put their own agendas before Downey citizens. Shame on you.
It is not in our best interest to leave the District 2 seat open. The city council should consider Mario Guerra, an experienced and knowledgeable leader. We need someone who will look out for our best interests.
After Mayor Blanca Pacheco voted to make Catherine Alvarez mayor pro tem, citizens lost faith in her leadership and her ability to do what’s good for all Downey citizens.

Dear Editor:
As a resident of Downey’s district 2, I took offense to Mayor Blanca Pacheco’s attempt to deprive me and my neighbors of representation on the city council.
Does the mayor not believe in transparency and representation? It’s not our fault that the city council has become a circus due to her lack of leadership abilities. Perhaps the mayor should put the brakes on her Assembly campaign and focus on getting our city back on track.
Our mayor and mayor pro tem both should resign for the benefit of Downey.
