Letter to the Editor: Yes on Measure K to protect quality education
Dear Editor:
This Tuesday, voters in our community have a unique opportunity to participate in our schools' evolution. As a parent of a 3rd-grade Downey student, I know first-hand that our local K-12 schools provide a top-notch education with solid core academic programs. I am impressed by the support and education my kids receive every year.
Thanks to them, local students move on to college and careers prepared for success. On Tuesday, November 8th, I'm doing my part to protect the quality education we've come to expect from our schools and vote YES on Measure K.
Measure K would provide repairs and upgrades to protect student safety and meet modern learning standards in our Downey Schools. Your YES vote on Measure K will help generate millions in dedicated, local funding that our schools can rely on. This funding is critical to Downey schools, and we owe it to local students to turn out and vote.
Our phenomenal public schools are a big part of why my wife and I decided to stay in Downey, and I want to do everything possible to keep our schools on top. Without Measure K, our kids will continue to endure outdated classrooms and facilities.
Quality schools are an excellent investment: they prepare the kids in our community to be successful members of society, improve quality of life, and increase property values. It's in our hands to pass Measure K to ensure every child, regardless of neighborhood or zip code - deserves a safe and modern facility in which to learn.
Make a difference for Downey students and vote YES on K on election day.
