Letter to the Editor: Trump and North Korea

Dear Editor:

Looks like President Trump is ready to get the U.S. into a war with North Korea. He told Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to stop wasting his time trying to negotiate.

Defense Secretary James Mattis says that “the Army must stand ready to take military action in North Korea should diplomatic efforts fail.” What is the rush? If we start a war with North Korea, China, which has a defense treaty with them, will go to war against us. I think Russia would also be drawn in against us.

Not only would hundreds of millions of people die, we would probably lose the war.
