Dear Editor:

I have come to appreciate the delicate balance required by a community paper like the Downey Patriot when it comes to national political issues, and I have appreciated the Patriot's willingness to allow all sides to express their opinion.

I was, however, taken aback by the large amount of space dedicated to praise for the President's tax reform proposal on the editorial page. This appears without a byline, so I assume that it was written by the Patriot editorial staff.

I look forward to seeing in the following weeks a similar collection of the numerous opinions criticizing the tax proposal, opinions that are readily available from the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, lawmakers and public interest groups.
