Letter to the Editor: Theatre eyesore
Dear Editor:
I saw the banners recently hung on the exterior of the Downey Theater by its "management" company. Talk about classless and tacky. Why not hang some pinatas and velvet Elvis portraits while you're at it?
This stately building was once the Tiffany's of community theater. Sadly, under VenueTech it more closely resembles a 99 Cent Store.
While they are publicly patting themselves on their backs for all the "vast improvements" they have made, most of us have not forgotten that it was they who drove the wonderful organization Downey Civic Light Opera out of business and also caused serious injuries to Mr. Garza of Los Lonely Boys by failing to cover an open orchestra pit.
I shudder to think about what is next from these people.
