Dear Editor:

Back in December of last year when a Downey City Council meeting was held regarding the possibility of dismissing the city manager, several residents spoke up. Residents stated how they were against it and in doing so, put down the surrounding cities of Maywood, Bell, South Gate and Cudahy to make their case.

These Southeast Cities have had issues, but there is no need to put other cities down as these communities do have challenges while the leadership is moving these communities forward.

The City of Downey is going through its own turmoil and hoping these matters are settled soon, as Downey strives to be the shining star it once was.
