Letter to the Editor: RVs on city streets
Dear Editor:
Here is a problem that you might not notice that is sneaking into Downey. Driving through the streets of Downey, I am noticing a few homeless RVs parked along the curb of our streets. Downey needs to take care of the problem before it gets worse.
When I worked in Los Angeles, I observed the RV problem first hand. RVs that are trashed, falling apart, flat tires, and draining toilets, that took over the streets.
Legal problems could hinder solving the problem. Homeless civil rights, parking time limits and social activists hindered the problem solving in certain big cities. Towing the RVs is another problem. RVs are considered as hazardous waste so no tow yard wants to impound them.
Take a family drive to Venice Beach or downtown LA and ask yourself if Downey deserves this.
